Two homes have fallen into a massive sinkhole that opened up in the city of Land O Lakes near Tampa on Friday morning.

The sinkhole opened up at about 9:30 a.m. in Pasco County, authorities said and it still seemed to be growing for hours afterward.

At first, just one home appeared to be at risk, but as the ground continued to shift, it sank as a second home also began to subside and totally collapse.

After the home collapsed, the only thing that was visible was a roof and a side wall.

‘Please avoid the area canal place and Ocean Pines Drive in Lake Padgett Land o Lakes,’ the Pasco County sheriff’s office tweeted after the collapse Friday morning.

At a press conference just before midday, police confirmed that nobody was injured at the time of the collapse in either of the homes.

Eleven other houses in the street have also been evacuated as a precaution while geologists wait for the land to settle.

Emergency responders were called to the home at 7:25 a.m. on Friday.

Here’s the incredible video that captured the massive sinkhole collapsing and then swallowing one of the two homes in mere seconds:

Initially, 911 dispatchers received a call about a boat that was falling into the hole, but then the situation quickly escalated.

By the time firefighters arrived at the house, the hole was about the size of a swimming pool and growing.

Officials say there is concern that the sinkhole could merge into a nearby lake.

Luckily, the residents had already left to go to work but firefighters did manage to rescued two dogs from inside the home.

Authorities went door-to-door to evacuate a further 11 homes as the sinkhole, which is filled with water, continued to grow reports WFLA.

‘For the most part, they lost everything,’ said Pasco County Rescue Fire Chief Shawn Whited. ‘This is something we’ve never seen before,’ he said.

“We got as much as we could as quickly as we could before it got too dangerous to be up there, but for the most part, they’ve lost everything.”

Crews were called to the home north of Tampa at approximately 7:30 a.m. after someone noticed a depression had formed under a boat parked outside a home.

The hole spread within a matter of minutes which caught many residents off guard.

The 200 feet wide sinkhole is also very deep.

Power has also been shut off to about 100 homes as a precaution.

Authorities notified other people living in the area that the sinkhole is active and they could be forced to evacuate at any time.

The Red Cross will be assisting the evacuated residents.
