An eerie and perplexing phenomenon has taken hold of the Jersey Shore, leaving locals and authorities baffled. Over the last several weeks, fleets of mysterious drones have been reported in the skies above New Jersey, exhibiting capabilities that defy conventional explanation.
According to NewsNation reporter Rich McHugh, these aerial vehicles—described as fixed-wing aircraft with 8-to-10-foot wingspans and blinking lights—have been evading detection, outrunning Coast Guard boats, and even vanishing into thin air when pursued by industrial-grade drones deployed by law enforcement.
“I got to be honest here. When this story first came out a few weeks ago, I didn’t pay it much credence. I thought it would turn out to be a bunch of pranksters,” McHugh stated. “The experience I had last night, however, changed how I feel about this story completely. What I saw was more sophisticated than I ever imagined. In about an hour, we saw 40 or 50 of these drones.”
Efforts to intercept these drones have been unsuccessful. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, which launched its own drones to investigate, noted that the mysterious aircraft evaded detection because they emit no heat, a feature that distinguishes them from typical drones.
Adding to the intrigue, a recent video shared on X shows what appears to be drones “shooting” something in the skies above New Jersey.

However, further investigation suggests that the footage likely captured helicopters conducting training exercises near Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Despite this explanation, the incident has fueled concerns, with many questioning whether these sightings pose a potential threat and does the helicopters were shooting at something!
