The choice of dress from Mrs. Trump continues her history of striking fashion statements for official occasions, with some observers noting that her choice to wear an iconic American brand shows support for her husband’s economic policies to strengthen American trade.
The first lady looked just as striking as ever in a red Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton. Tea leaf readers may interpret the choice of a British label as a kindred gesture to the U.K. or the striking color to the one in Japan’s flag. But FLOTUS’ stylist Hervé Pierre is not one to send secret messages. Quietly tenacious in his approach, he continually scouts out stores looking for potential event-appropriate attire for the first lady. All of her wardrobe choices are presented, discussed at length and then she makes the final call.
Melania smiled pleasantly beside other world leaders, including French First Lady Brigitte Macron, who made three dress changes during the day.

Mrs. Trump matched the red dress with a pair of metallic red Christian Louboutin stilettos that she wore this past April, as Breitbart News noted.
With her wearing of the McQueen number, Mrs. Trump has now worn designers from four of the G7 nations with her picks of Chanel and Gucci from the past days.
Melania’s red number was her second outfit of the day, a seamless transition from the white midi-length Calvin Klein dress she wore earlier as the group of G7 wives visited Espelette, a traditional Basque village near the summit in Biarritz.
The first lady chosen attire turned heads as she stepped out in a sleeveless cream-colored dress with a v-neckline and pleats in the front. She completed the look with a silver belt and a pair of silver stiletto pumps.
