Sunday, on “Fox and Friends”, Dr. Alveda King, the niece of famed civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., called President Trump a “knowledgable” and “compassionate” leader regarding pro-life and the civil rights movement.
Representative John Lewis, a Democrat from Georgia, called President Trump “uncaring” regarding the civil rights movement.
“I think the person we have in Washington today is uncaring—knows very, very little about the struggle and the history of the Civil Rights Movement,” Lewis said about President Trump.
Dr. King rebutted Lewis by saying “the president is certainly fighting for civil rights today”, adding that the president is “Leading the charge for civil rights today for the little unborn persons in the womb who have a right to live.”
Dr. King is the director of the pro-life Civil Rights for the Unborn group and is vocal about her support of pro-life causes. Dr. King added that she holds Lewis in “great esteem”, but Lewis seems to have ruffled Dr. King’s feathers a bit.
She commented that Lewis is “one of the greatest defenders of non-violent conflict resolution” and that “everybody in America needs to do some homework and stop playing the race card.”
Dr. King noted that President Trump “surrounded himself with African American leaders” and stated that the president is “knowledgeable of much of the history of African Americans.”
She also added that “President Trump himself is a very brilliant man” and that she believes he is compassionate.
