Washington, D.C. – Michigan Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) filed articles of impeachment against President Trump on April 28, 2025, but conservatives on X, led by Laura Loomer, are calling it a “financial scam” after FEC records revealed Thanedar’s campaign, “Shri for Congress,” is drowning in $730,313.81 of debt—largely from his own self-financing. The allegations, backed by FEC filings shared by @LoomerUnleashed, suggest Thanedar is using the impeachment push to fundraise under the guise of “IMPEACH TRUMP,” with plans to pocket the money to offset his debts, prompting outrage among conservatives like @MAGAForce2024: “Thanedar’s impeachment is a grift—Dems are scamming America again!”

FEC records show Thanedar’s campaign recorded a $1,208,286.58 “investment income loss” on February 28, 2025, with Thanedar himself listed as the recipient, per @LauraLoomer []. @Breaking911 on X noted Thanedar’s articles of impeachment, which cite Trump’s “abuse of power” and “violations of the Constitution,” per Newsweek [], but conservatives argue it’s a ploy to erase his financial hole, with the DCCC allegedly promoting his fundraising links to help him recover. @PatriotPulse wrote, “Thanedar’s $800k in debt, so he files fake impeachment articles to grift off ‘Impeach Trump’ donors—disgusting!”
FEC records:

Thanedar, born in India, has drawn particular ire from conservatives, with @America1stMAGA stating, “He’s trying to scam real Americans with blood ties to the soil of our nation—maybe he should be deported!” @JusticeForAll22 added, “If the GOP had any balls, they’d investigate him—Speaker Johnson needs to step up!” Thanedar’s history of controversial moves, like his 2024 resolution for World Health Day, per thanedar.house.gov [], does little to quell conservative suspicion, especially given his district’s support for Israel, with $157,647 from pro-Israel groups, per OpenSecrets [].
Conservatives see this as a pattern of Democratic desperation against Trump, whose administration has deported 88,763 illegal immigrants since January 2025, per DHS []. @MAGAForce2024 wrote, “Thanedar’s impeachment scam won’t stop Trump—it’s just another Dem dirty trick!” With FEC receipts fueling the narrative of financial misconduct, conservatives are demanding accountability, viewing Thanedar’s move as a cynical attempt to exploit anti-Trump sentiment for personal gain while undermining the integrity of American politics.
