Only in Florida.
A 5-year-old Jacksonville boy named William sparked both panic and laughter this week when he slipped out of his house early Tuesday morning before anyone was awake — and made a solo trip to his favorite breakfast spot: Chick-fil-A.
By the time mom and dad realized he was missing, the little adventurer was already on his way. At 7:20 a.m., police officers showed up at the family’s door, William safely in tow. That’s when the story took a turn from terrifying to downright hilarious.
When officers asked William a few questions, he nervously looked up and asked:
“Are you gonna get me in jail?”

America can’t stop laughing at the video, now going viral. The officers, of course, reassured him that no, he wasn’t headed to the slammer for his early morning chicken craving. Instead, they returned him home safely — and later got treated to cookies from William himself in a follow-up visit.
His parents were clearly shaken, but thankfully everything ended well. William, meanwhile, looked like he had a blast — even if he went quiet once mom and dad came outside to collect him.
Jacksonville PD handled it with grace and good humor, and Chick-fil-A even joined in the fun after the fact. Looks like William may have gotten that breakfast after all, this time with a police escort.
The lesson here? God’s chicken sandwich might be worth the hype, but maybe wait until the family’s awake before heading out on a solo mission.
