Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro — the twin brother of 2020 candidate Julián Castro decided to use dirty tactics when it comes to President Trump.
He tweeted the names and employers of 44 San Antonio residents who donated the federal maximum to President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign.
His actions had a reverse effect because at least one Trump donor said that he donated 1$ million more since the exposure of the list. And other donor had his business running even more.
Bill Miller BBQ then became a trending topic on Twitter, with some vowing they will boycott the barbecue staple and the Pearl, and others saying they will continue eating at the chain.
The restaurant has seen record sales lately.
Customers were seen queueing around the block to get into Bill Miller Bar-B-Q restaurants, with cars backed up in the drive-through lanes in huge lines.
“It seems Castro may have unintentionally advertised for the business because people claiming to be locals are reporting lines of people looking to support it stretching long and far,” BizPac Review reported.
The House Ethics Committee could have a serious controversy on its hands if House Republicans get their way.
On Friday, six GOP lawmakers, led by Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, sent a letter expressing their concerns to House Ethics Committee Chair Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) and ranking member Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Texas).
“Posting a target list of private citizens simply for supporting his political opponent is antithetical to our principles and serves to suppress the free speech and free association rights of Americans,” the letter reads, referencing House rules requiring members to “behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.”
“These acts must immediately be investigated to determine if Rep. Castro has violated the ethical rules of this institution,” the letter adds.
The letter is also signed by Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida, Jody Hice of Georgia, Debbie Lesko of Arizona, Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, Randy Weber of Texas and Ted Budd of North Carolina, as The Hill reported.
Whether or not it ever sees the light of day — given the fact the committee is controlled by the Democrats — remains to be seen.
