President Trump has unveiled a bold strategy to combat illegal immigration and the fentanyl crisis, announcing sweeping tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China.
On Monday evening, Trump declared a 25% tariff on all products from Mexico and Canada, vowing the measure would remain in place until the flow of illegal aliens and drugs into the United States is stopped. Trump slammed the Biden administration’s failure to secure the borders, pointing to more than 15 million illegal aliens entering the country since January 2021, largely under the watch of Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden’s so-called “border czar.”
“Thousands are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing crime and drugs like never before. On day one of my second term, I’ll impose these tariffs to force action,” Trump said on Truth Social.
The former president didn’t stop there. To counter China’s role in fueling America’s fentanyl epidemic, Trump announced a 10% tariff on all Chinese imports until the flow of deadly drugs ceases. With over 70,000 Americans dying annually from fentanyl overdoses, Trump’s plan directly confronts the crisis exacerbated by Biden’s weak policies.
“China promised me maximum penalties for their drug dealers but never delivered. Until they stop, they will pay,” Trump stated.
This decisive approach signals Trump’s readiness to prioritize American lives and sovereignty, holding neighboring countries and China accountable for their roles in the crises ravaging the nation.
