The Secret Service has rejected Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for records related to the recent attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The attempt, carried out by 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, took place during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
Crooks managed to evade multiple layers of state, local, and federal law enforcement, climbing onto a rooftop and firing eight shots at President Trump. One bullet grazed Trump’s ear as he turned his head at the last moment to read a chart on illegal immigration.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton criticized the Secret Service’s lack of transparency, accusing the agency of a cover-up:
“The Biden Secret Service is in cover-up mode on its inexcusable and epic failure to protect former President Trump and other innocents. For Secret Service leaders to promise transparency to Congress while hiding every possible FOIA record from the American people is yet another indictment of this corrupt and failing agency.”
In response to the denial, Judicial Watch announced that it is preparing for litigation to obtain the requested records.
