But here’s the part Schumer probably didn’t mean to highlight: The SAVE America Act is straightforward legislation requiring voter ID and proof of U.S. citizenship to register and vote in federal elections. That’s it. No tricks, no games — just basic safeguards to make sure only eligible American citizens are casting ballots.
If Schumer is claiming this bill will knock 25 million people off the rolls, then he’s either wildly exaggerating for political theater… or he’s admitting something far more explosive. That there are potentially **25 million** people currently on those rolls who shouldn’t be there — non-citizens, illegals, or people without any valid identification proving they’re eligible to vote.
Let that number sink in for a second.
For years, Democrats and their allies have dismissed concerns about non-citizen voting as conspiracy theories or “racist” distractions. They’ve fought tooth and nail against any real proof-of-citizenship requirements. Now the top Senate Democrat is practically shouting from the rooftops that cleaning up the rolls could affect tens of millions of entries.
Either Schumer is making this up to scare people, or he knows exactly how deep the problem runs. Neither option looks good for the party that keeps blocking basic election integrity measures.
The SAVE America Act isn’t some radical scheme.
