Memorial Day is supposed to be a solemn day to honor the men and women who gave their lives defending America. But in some blue cities, the priorities are completely upside down.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey used the day to post a long, emotional tribute to George Floyd on X, calling his death a moment that “changed our city forever” and forced Minneapolis to confront “painful truths about race, policing, inequity, and trust.”
Today, we remember George Floyd, who was murdered by a former Minneapolis police officer six years ago.
That moment changed our city forever.

Frey even performed a very public kneeling in front of Floyd’s golden casket back in 2020.

Predictably, he was dragged online for choosing to spotlight Floyd on a day meant for America’s fallen heroes. Meanwhile, the Trump administration posted multiple tributes honoring the true sacrifices of U.S. service members.
🚨 WTF?! Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is focused on honoring GEORGE FLOYD this Memorial Day

He has NOT posted about Memorial Day on his official account!

The contrast couldn’t be clearer.
At the same time, in Seattle, residents are taking matters into their own hands because the city’s progressive policies have left them no choice. People are literally building makeshift walls and fortresses on their streets to block criminals and protect their property.
Video:
This is what happens when cities defund the police, refuse to prosecute theft and property crime, and prioritize ideology over public safety. Law-abiding citizens are forced to turn their neighborhoods into barricaded zones just to feel safe. It’s a damning indictment of years of soft-on-crime governance that has turned once-vibrant cities into open-air disasters.
President Trump has been sounding the alarm on this exact kind of breakdown for years. While Democrats push “defund the police,” sanctuary policies, and endless excuses for criminals, Trump has always stood for law and order and putting American citizens first. The results of those failed blue-city experiments are on full display: mayors honoring criminals on Memorial Day while residents build literal walls to keep out the chaos their policies created.
This is the real legacy of progressive governance. Not compassion, but collapse. Not justice, but disorder. And the American people are done with it.
The video from Seattle says it all: when government refuses to protect you, you eventually have to protect yourself.
