House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., has revealed that a new Biden family member has emerged in the investigation into Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings – Hunter Biden is the son of President Joe Biden.
Comer, who is spearheading the investigation into the matter, declined to reveal the identity of the family member Tuesday but said the revelation raises more national security concerns about foreign “influence peddling.”
The Republican detailed how long-anticipated financial records, to which the Treasury Department recently granted access, indicate that the Biden family received a $3 million payment from individuals tied to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) shortly after President Biden’s tenure as vice president concluded.
“There were three different Biden family members that received a cut from that $3 million, including a new Biden family member that’s never before been included in any of these investigations,” Comer told “America’s Newsroom.” “So, our question is: What exactly did they do to receive that money? What was the purpose of that $3 million wire?”
“Now, that’s just the first wire that we’ve actually been able to obtain bank records,” he continued. “There are many, many more.”
Today the Treasury Department allowed the release of the suspicious activity reports (SARs) Tuesday, Comer announced, which serve in part as the basis for the GOP-led probe into the president’s son’s foreign transactions.
James Comer revealed Thursday that subpoenaed bank records indicate President Biden’s daughter-in-law Hallie was the previously unknown family recipient of Chinese cash in 2017.
President Biden, who allegedly was the “big guy” mentioned in communications about the same Chinese venture, dined at Hallie Biden’s residence last Friday during his regular weekend trip home to Delaware. It’s unclear if they discussed the looming bombshell, which Comer (R-Ky.) publicly teased Monday night on Fox News’ “Hannity.”
The records show Hallie Biden received $35,000 over two transfers in 2017 from Biden family associate John “Rob Walker” after he received $3 million on March 1, 2017, from the Chinese State Energy HK Limited, a firm affiliated with CEFC China Energy.
The first transfer to Hallie from Robinson Walker LLC was for $25,000 on March 20 of that year, Comer wrote in a Thursday morning memo to committee members.
The information creates an unexpected new avenue for investigation — and Comer notes the bank records don’t include the first names of all Biden family recipients, meaning there may be other relatives involved.
Comer has long suspected “influence peddling,” suggesting Hunter sold his father’s political influence abroad for lump sum payments.
Meanwhile, Comer received scrutiny from ranking member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., for subpoenaing the bank records, accusing him of acting “on behalf” of former President Donald Trump.
