Two groups – Stand Up To Trump and Stop Trump – are co-ordinating protest groups for what they are calling a ‘carnival of resistance’. They have laid on coaches to bring thousands of supporters to the capital from cities and towns across the UK.
A spokesman for Stand Up To Trump said: ‘We will be bringing central London to a standstill. By the time he leaves he will know, and the world will know, that people here reject him and his toxic politics.’
Stop Trump added: ‘We will make it clear to the British Government it’s not OK to normalize Trump’s agenda and the fear it has sparked.’
Last year they had a giant Trump baby but this year they add another giant Trump figure.
The giant robot is expected to be the central attraction in today’s Stop Trump protest, in which 250,000 people are predicted to attend.
The “Trump Dumper” produces fart noises and shouts “you are fake news” and “I am a very stable genius”, in an attempt to humiliate the President during his three-day state visit.
The talking robot stands alongside the giant, orange inflatable baby Trump blimp that first appeared during his 2018 visit. The “Trump Dumper” cost nearly £20,000 to create and depicts Trump with his trousers around his ankles, sitting on a gold toilet with his trademark red tie hanging into the bowl.
Don Lessum, who created the robot, told LBC: “It’s a masterpiece. It took a month to make and ironically we made it in China and there were no tariffs on it. “It’s a 16-foot high statue of Trump, doing what he does the most, sitting on the toilet and tweeting.” Jeremy Corbyn will be joining the thousands of protestors and will address the crowd later today.
