Trump Finally Responds To Women’s Soccer Team Winning World Cup

A video showing the U.S. women’s national soccer team letting an American flag drop to the ground while celebrating their World Cup win has gone viral, sparking a backlash against the player who appeared to let the flag drop.

Kelley O’Hara, who was knocked out of the match with concussion-like symptoms, was praised, however, for running in and picking the flag up soon after it had been dropped.

So we can tell that it’s not the whole team un-patriotic and un-American!

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday invited the U.S. women’s national soccer team to visit the Capitol after their stunning 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in the World Cup final.

Pelosi congratulated the team for winning with “strength, unity and patriotism” and extended the invitation “by popular, bipartisan demand” with Reps. Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) and Darin LaHood (R-Ill.)

President Trump joined the congratulations.

“Congratulations to the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team on winning the World Cup! Great and exciting play,” Trump tweeted. “America is proud of you all!”

Several members of the women’s team, including co-captain Megan Rapinoe, have been outspoken about not wanting to go the White House to honor the back-to-back titles.

Rapinoe, who won the tournament’s Golden Boot as the top scorer, said last month that she was “not going to the f—ing White House” in the case of a World Cup win.

In a tweet, Trump responded that “leagues and teams love coming to the White House” and added he is a “big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer” but cautioned that “Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job!”

“Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”

He went on to promise a White House invitation to the team “win or lose.”

But he didn’t think at the time that they will step on our flag!
